The board approved the following:
Financial Reports, Revenues & Expenditures, for School Board approval and listings of bills paid in August for General Purpose, Federal Projects, School Nutrition, and School Capital Projects Funds. September reports for all funds will also be reported at the next meeting.
General Purpose Fund - Budget Journal #01 for August 2024.
Federal Projects Fund - Budget Journal #02 for August 2024.
The board approved a listing of surplus and obsolete items.
The board approved the report of Local Education Agency 2024 Compliance Report to the Tennessee Department of Education.
Tennessee High students Jonah Cunningham, Luke Hicks, Astraia Kudela, and Dominic Shipley shared a presentation about Viking Robotics, Marooned Mariners, and engineering at Tennessee High School. The programs were started by teacher Lori Givney and are now being guided by Dr. Benji Lewis. The students showcased recent achievements of Viking Robotics and the transformation of the former automotive space into their new Engineering Lab Space. Please enjoy their presentation above highlighting their creative projects which emphasize their tremendous teamwork, problem-solving, and technical skills.
The public comment portion of the meeting allowed for the participation of school personnel, parents, students, and any other interested parties to contribute feedback prior to the submission of our TISA Accountability Report to the State Department of Education. Eric Cuddy offered remarks on the TISA Accountability Report and detailed how the public can find the report and give feedback on the BTCS website: Menu>Our District>Required Postings. One question was asked by Donna Coffey regarding the district goals and the proficiency percentage. Dr. Tudor responded to the question.
The board approved the following policy on first reading Policy 5.400, Personnel Health Examinations/Communicable Diseases.
The board approved the Secondary Transition Indicator 14 (1-14) application.
The board approved the Stronger Connections Grant.
The board approved the revised Coaching & Miscellaneous Supplements Salary Schedule.
The Report from the Director of Schools was given by Dr. Annette Tudor.
Board members heard comments from City Council Liaison Margaret Feierabend.
The Bristol Tennessee Board of Education provided individual comments.
