Holston View Elementary School
This heartwarming video presented at the school board meeting by Holston View Elementary Interim Principal Vonda Beavers and incoming Principal Kayla McMeans featured a showcase of student interviews conducted by student Aurora Lane. The video captures the voices of children sharing their favorite subjects and what they love most about Holston View. Their answers highlight the school as a place of excellence and success—a place where students learn, grow, and achieve. From celebrating strong friendships to making learning fun, the video paints a picture of the Holston View experience and the meaningful connections that define it. The video was created by teacher Jacob Mims.
The Annual Employee Recognition Dinner was held immediately following the board meeting in the dining hall of King University. Please enjoy the below video honoring those celebrations!
The board approved the following:
Financial Reports (Revenues & Expenditures) for School Board approval and listings of bills paid in March for General Purpose, Federal Projects, School Nutrition, and School Capital Projects Funds.
April reports for all funds will be reported at the next meeting.
General Purpose School Fund budget revisions #12 (April) and #13 (May).
The board approved a listing of surplus and obsolete items.
The board approved Tara Musick, CPA, as the Fiscal Agent for Bristol Tennessee City Schools for the term of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.
The board approved the renewal of the contract with Scholastic Insurors, Inc. for student accident insurance for 2025 - 2026. Insurance is optional for purchase by parents. There are no changes in rates from 2025-2026 per a discussion with the insurance agent, Mr. Manny Cocurull. The benefits will be improving and are a better alternative per the agent. A written quote is being prepared based upon the verbal correspondence. No system funds are involved.
The board approved the 2025-2026 District Handbook.
Chair Eric Cuddy and Student Services Supervisor Kristie Coleman offered comments on the district's Emergency Operations Plans.

The board approved the Community Tectonics Contract for the Tennessee High School roof project.
The board approved the science textbook adoption recommendations.

The board approved the following bonus standards for 2025 Substitute Teacher and Full- and Part-time Employees with less than 120 days of service:
Substitute teachers who have worked at least ten days but less than 25 days in the 24–25 school year, with at least one of those work days occurring after January 7, 2025, will be eligible to receive a $100 bonus.
Regular full- and part-time employees who have worked at least ten days but less than 25 days during the 24–25 school year and are actively employed on May 23, 2025, will be eligible to receive a $100 bonus.
Substitute teachers who have worked 25 days or more in the 24–25 school year, with at least one of those work days occurring after January 7, 2025, will be eligible to receive a $250 bonus.
Regular full- and part-time employees who have worked at least 25 days but less than 120 days during the 24–25 school year and are actively employed on May 23, 2025, will be eligible to receive a $250 bonus.
All bonuses to be paid when other eligible full- and part-time employees receive their previously-approved bonuses.
The board approved the service order with Fulcrum Management Solutions Thought Exchange data platform.
The board approved a purchase order to Richardson Construction Group (Russellville, TN) in the amount of $404,367.00 for Bid #25-008, Bristol Tennessee High School Steep Slope Roof Replacement and Cupola Repairs. The approved budget for this project was $1.2M, including design. The scope of work was reduced from the original project because the flat roof portion was included with Bid #25-009.
The board approved a purchase order to Richardson Construction Group (Russellville, TN) in the amount of $852,750.00 for Bid #25-009, Anderson Elementary and Bristol Tennessee High School 2025 Re-Roof Projects. The approved budget for this project was $1,244,250.00 including design. The scope of work was increased from the original project because flat roofs from THS and Anderson were combined to economy of scale.
The board approved the Revised FY 2025 Budget Amendment.
The board approved the Revised FY 2026 Budget.
The Report from the Director of Schools was given by Dr. Annette Tudor.
City Council Liaison Rae Akard indicated she did not have any comments or questions on behalf of City Council.
